Barcelona has identified Benfica forward Darwin Nunez as a long-term replacement for Uruguay forward Luis Suarez, according to ESPN. The Benfica manager Jorge Jesus said he expects Nunez to one day be sold for more than the $142M that Atletico Madrid paid to sign Joao Felix.
Inter Milan's Lautaro Martínez was the main target of Barcelona but the cost of signing the Argentinean is large. The Barcelona coach Ronald Koeman has offered M. Depay as an alternative but the signing collapsed during the final days of the transfer market.
Barcelona could make another bid for the forward in January who's out of contract next summer, but Nunez has emerged as another option for the Messi lead Barcelona.
