Public : A social network made in India for Indians from the creators of Inshorts


Public is a location-based social network from the creators of Inshorts(a popular Indian news reading app).

Public is everything about local connectivity and information. It aims to provide users the latest updates and information about their city through short videos. The app currently supports most of the Indian languages like Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Marathi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Telugu for the people of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, West Bengal, Tripura, Telangana, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Azhar Iqubal founder and CEO of Public app told that they were able to secure a funding of $35 million (about ₹260Cr) from venture capitalist Lee Fixel’s Addition, SIG Global, and Tanglin Venture Partners.

For political leaders, government authorities, media and journalists Public is a medium to connect with local communities and to share verified trustworthy videos.

For local businesses, Public can be used as a promoter to attract customers. Small businesses and local service people like lawyers, astrologers, doctors can also make use of this app to connect and find local customers and clients.

The app has over 50 million installs now on Google Play store.
